Abstract

The "care problem" is an issue of huge relevance for the Feminist Economy, because it allows to unravel central elements in the mechanisms of socio-economic and gender inequality reproduction. However, aspirations to reduce these inequalities often face significant gaps between the academic debates and the design and implementation of transformative policies. We consider that these gaps are due to the political dispute involved in feminist proposals, to the asymmetries of power to carry them forward, but also to the challenges that public bureaucratic structures face. This paper focuses on the challenges of interinstitutional coordination of state agencies to address childcare policies, considering that the analysis of state agencies capabilities to work in a coordinated way allows us to understand the feasibility of implementing comprehensive childcare policies.

Keywords: state agencies, institutional coordination, childcare policies, socio-economic equity, gender equity.
