Abstract

The advance of digital platforms and the repercussions of the phenomenon on labor in particular is an issue that has captured the attention of the social sciences, raising a debate that contrasts optimistic and critical arguments (Del Bono, 2019; Del Bono and Bulloni, 2021). On the other hand, the particularities of the Argentine labor market, marked by high levels of unemployment and informality make the study of the platform economy in this country a case with unique nuances. This paper analyzes, for the case of Argentina, the quality of work in the digital platform segment. To do so, we estimate a multidimensional job quality indicator based on Deguilhem et al. (2020), finding that job quality in this segment does not seem to be polarized, but rather appears concentrated around low quality.
