The evolution of the Argentinian economy since the publication of the 2004 base year of the national accounts:
reflections on the consideration of the double character of the social product in historical perspective
Abstract
This article aims to contribute to the debate about the performance of the Argentinian economy in the long term. To do this, we will analyze the evolution of the social product in terms of its value character and its use-value character. At the same time, we will present an estimation of wage participation and non-wage labour income participation in the total product, in order to investigate how the appropriation of the generated wealth varied during the period under study. In order to do this, we will start by inquiring about what happened during the postconvertibility from a comparative analysis of the different national accounts official series published by INDEC for the years after the new base 2004, and a proposal to link the old data with the new one for historical comparison.
Keywords: national accounts, GDP, evolution of value, functional distribution, economic cycle.
