Tariff regulation of natural gas in the post-convertibility. Analysis of its effects on the income and performance of companies
Abstract
The economic reforms implemented during the 1990s transformed the social structure in Argentina and public energy services were no exception, because their main companies were privatized. After the exit of the convertibility in 2002 and the interruption of the regulatory framework, what were the transformations of the State intervention in the public services after the sanction of the law of public emergency of 2002? What were the effects on the salaries and economic performance of the companies? The objective of the article is to review the modifications in the tariff regulation of the residential natural gas public service in the post-convertibility period (2002-2017), analyzing the changes in the State intervention in the sector with respect to the 1990s, and how these impacted on the salaries and profitability of the main natural gas companies.
